White Lion is the sixth episode of the fifth season of Voltron: Legendary Defender. It was released on Netflix along with the rest of the season on March 2, 2018.
Synopsis[]
The team searches for a portal to a mysterious, fabled Altean land called Oriande. Shiro starts to feel like there's something wrong with him.
Plot Summary[]
A map is discovered to the mythical land of Oriande. Lotor convinces Allura to send a team to the Patrulian System, a dangerous area that is known to be unsafe for navigation. Coran is concerned, but Allura feels that it is the right thing to do.
A white hole is discovered, and only Voltron can safely traverse it. Their passage is blocked by a guardian – a White Lion. The Castle of Lions and the Lions themselves all lose power, forcing the Paladins to evacuate.
Lotor and Allura's Altean markings start to glow, indicating that they are the only ones worthy of entering Oriande as they are the Marks of the Chosen. Lotor and Allura cross into Oriande while the others attempt to restore power to the Castle of Lions before they run out of air. Shiro admits to Lance that he does not recall any events from their time on the astral plane and has not been feeling like himself.
Lotor and Allura face the White Lion. Lotor is ultimately expelled from the temple, but Allura unlocks the secret of Altean alchemy. They manage to return to the Castle of Lions in time before the others run out of oxygen.
Haggar is revealed to be spying on the team through Shiro, and instructs her generals to set a course of the Patrulian System.

- The White Lion character is a reference to a similar character who appeared in the Defender of the Universe series.
- Although he is now Emperor of the Galra Empire, Lotor is referred to as "Prince" Lotor by Coran.
