Copied information over from when the article was at its largest, and editing it to work now. I don't know if we can copy over templates or not. Edit away. Dream Focus 01:33, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Need to divide the article to make it load better[]

It suggest when I edit, that the article is too long, and should be divided into smaller sections. Any suggestions? I guess a page for each Voltron series, with just a brief mention of it on the main page. Dream Focus 01:42, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I like it long like that, all the information relevant to other information, no problems scrolling down. Does anyone who is interested in the information, and difference in the series and characters and whatnot, prefer to have things put onto separate pages? If not, no reason not to let it stay as it is. I put the DVD information on another page already, and the trivia that doesn't concern anything in the Voltron universe itself is on another page called Trivia now. Dream Focus 11:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Its about the article, not the fame[]

http://help.wikia.com/wiki/Advice:Raising_your_wiki%27s_Google_ranking#Step_2:_Move_the_main_page.

The thing about making 50 stubs, and trying to get noticed by Google, and posting links everywhere you can to make your wiki more popular, I find rather shocking! I certainly wasn't expecting that. If you wish to make a stub, it should be because you believe there should be an article there, not because you want to pick up more hits on a search engine.

The wiki's should provide interesting information to those seeking it, not just be some search engine trap where you end up there, look around, find nothing that impresses you much, and then never return. Dream Focus 18:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

What should be added?[]

A list of the ratings in various countries when it came out. How long the syndication of it have been going on(I believe reruns are still shown on some channels in America at times). Estimates as to how many times the series has aired through reruns. Perhaps pictures of all of the characters on a character portrait page? More detailed information about them, if any was to be had perhaps? What more could be said that wasn't in their summaries? Did the Japanese script have them any different than the American script? Since the series didn't last that long, not much more to say about it I suppose. Never hesitate to speak up and state your opinions though. Dream Focus 19:07, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I moved the comic book information to its own page[]

WARNING: This page is 57 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections.

Firefox 3 has no trouble loading this, but what about those of of you using Internet Explorer, or whatever other browsers are out there? Do Mac and Linux users have access to Firefox even? I don't think they'd be using Internet Explorer, so perhaps other browsers exist. Anyway... does anyone know if anyone out there, is having trouble loading the page? Older computers perhaps have a problem.

I moved the two comic book sections to another page, but we're still a bit long. I believe all the information about the first three Voltrons fits together, they all connected after all, but the comics could stand on their own page I suppose. They did come out more than a decade later after all. I'll see what else I can move to reduce the page size, for those who might have a problem with it. They wouldn't be adding that WARNING message in big scary capital letters, unless there was a problem. Dream Focus 17:21, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

There is a review from a guy who has read the Voltron movie script[]

http://www.latinoreview.com/script-reviews/voltron-defender-of-the-universe-65 A lot of foul language, and whatnot, but when he gets to describing the script, he does a good job. I stopped reading because I'd rather be surprised when I see things in the movie. So, spoiler alert. If anyone is interested though, check it out. I see no need to add a lot of plot detail to this article, but perhaps some general information such as character changes, overall setting, and whatnot might be of interest to some people. Dream Focus 17:44, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Link changed. I fixed it in your comment above. Also added to movie page. I ought to find a copy of that script if it's floating around... --GrantB 07:28, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

WorldEvents has YouTube collection[]

The company that released it in American has its own official YouTube collection found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/WorldEvents

Watching through the first part of their history found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwqeNResh6s I found it interesting to note that Go Lion was sent over by accident, they actually planning on using other robot series before then.

Lot of official stuff there to look through for information. Dream Focus 17:14, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Is there any activity on this wiki?[]

From what I can tell, there's been no activity here in almost 4 months. Is anyone actively maintaining this wiki? I'd be interested in helping. Raukodraug 05:10, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I get a message whenever someone post anywhere at all here. I created this wikia because no one else had yet, and I wanted to preserve some of the information which was being deleted from the official Wikipedia article. I thought after I created it, someone else would take over. I just found all the information interesting, and didn't want to see 90% of that article deleted, so I just moved everything over here, and then worked on it from there.
Anyway, feel free to edit whatever you want. Dream Focus 11:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm still fairly new to the wiki editing world, but as I get a little more familiar on other wikis I'll be sure to be back and work here. Thanks. Raukodraug 01:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
I have been adding articles about episodes. Dbz77 07:32, January 19, 2011 (UTC)dbz77

draft for new front page[]

(originally posted this comment on Dream Focus' user page, but I guess it's probably more relevant here)

See my draft front page on my user page. Obviously each image will be different; those are just placeholders. I'll take some screengrabs off my DVDs and take other pictures before it goes live.

Anyway, give me feedback if you have any. I'm going to split up the current front page soon into the sub-pages that this page links to. I'll probably take it live this weekend if I don't hear any objection.

--GrantB 18:53, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I love the draft you set-up. --Raukodraug 16:25, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I need to get it in gear and wrap it up already. I can't believe I said I'd get it done a month ago! Need to get the remaining pics and just do it already. Stupid real-world interfering with my frivolous projects... --GrantB 20:11, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Working on new page now[]

I copied some things over from GrantB's creation: [1]. It still needs some work. Having the boxes for the original Japanese version on the right, next to the Americanized version, would look fine. I had trouble getting that to happen. Anyway, we can not loose any content. There has to a box listing it or linking to a page that does in a proper manner. And no reason not to have general series information on the main page to explain things. Dream Focus 11:44, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Moved a lot of info to other pages[]

I put in a lot of time tonight making revisions to the front page. All info removed from this page has been preserved and moved to other pages. I took great care not to delete any info from this wiki. Please ask me if you think I lost something; I tried to be clear in my edit comments where I moved the info to (note: "TOS" means "The Original Series" aka Voltron: Defender of the Universe). I will continue to move the random info at the bottom of this page to more appropriate pages. --GrantB 07:25, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

I made stub articles for the villians and started finding pictures for all of them[]

I went ahead and made articles for all the villains, and started finding pictures of them to upload. Adding in what episodes they appeared in, and additional information might be helpful in some cases. Once an article is made, it can be expanded, growing in time, thus is the way of things. Dream Focus 04:09, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

Cool cool. The character summaries from Wikipedia are pretty sloppy, so I plan to clean them up later, but it's good to get the pages started. As I go through episodes/comics, I'll be cleaning them up. I plan for character pages to follow the general format I used for Pidge aka Hiroshi Suzuishi (different pages), as this format has served the TFWiki well (e.g. see Powerglide). I think we ought to enforce separation of Voltron/Golion references, and eliminate pointless references to non-Voltron anime. For example, the King Zarkon summary is an ambiguous mix of Golion/Voltron references, and the references to Voltes V do not help to clarify or illustrate any point. I'll probably work over that page in a bit (and move his Golion character traits to a Daibazaal page).
Going forward, another thing I'd like to be thorough on is citations. I want to be fairly rigorous on having sources for various claims made, and I suspect there's some stuff on this wiki right now that isn't entirely accurate. A few times people have added fan-fic last names to the VV characters to Wikipedia; stuff like that bugs the crap out of me. "Common knowledge" is not-infrequently totally wrong.
Right now I'm revising the episode guides and templates (see User:GrantB/Test Page). When I'm done with that I'm going to get back to my Todo list. --GrantB 14:28, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
I added more info on the King Zarkon page. Dbz77 18:01, January 22, 2011 (UTC)dbz77

You can see what pages people keep going to[]

http://voltron.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special:Mostvisitedpages&limit=500&offset=0 That list all of the pages on this Wikia, and how many views each one of them got. I wonder why so many people go to the main page, and so few of those then go and visit other pages. Dream Focus 09:32, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Been busy[]

Hi, just an FYI that I'm still into this, just too busy to contribute much right now. I'll get back to this sooner or later... GrantB 13:32, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Voltron Force added, DVD box dropped[]

  • Added a new box for Voltron Force, as production is well underway according to various official sources. Image pulled from Voltron Facebook page. I'll stub out a page for the series soon.
  • Removed the DVD box, because I don't think it's a good idea. DVD information would be best placed on the show page of what it is. A couple pages have this already, and I'll migrate the current DVD page contents to other pages as appropriate.

--GrantB 21:48, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

Changes[]

Perhaps a picture of something bloody and then the same image of something clean, put together to be the size of the other banners, and thus linking to all the changes in the series. The various articles for the different series can have a link to the list articles for their enemies, characters, episodes, and whatnot. Dream Focus 01:01, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Badges[]

Wikias allow an option to turn on badges. Some wikias I've seen use them. For every single thing you can imagine doing, you get a badge and some points. This apparently encourages people to edit more. How does everyone feel about them? Dream Focus 04:22, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not really interested. I think adding a "competitive" aspect is a little silly, and might inadvertently encourage "gaming" the system for points. --GrantB 17:45, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

100 Articles! What What![]

I just added the 100th article! (If you're curious, it's The Armored Fleet Dairugger XV Collection.) I saw we were at 99 and felt the need to knock us into triple digits. Hooray for us! --GrantB 22:30, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

Yay. I should be adding more over the holiday weekend. --User:RenkonNairu
Poop. I deleted a bunch of orphan/empty pages, and now we're back under 100. Yay progress. Number 100 is back in play!--GrantB 20:28, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Are we in competision now to see who can create the 100th article? RenkonNairu 20:33, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Not really, I'm just joking around. --GrantB 20:36, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Good to know. BTW, how's that fomat for the episodes coming? The one that you were dtafting so that other users could just copy paste it and fill in as nessisary. RenkonNairu 20:41, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Son of a biscuit. I swear I posted a message on your talk page. Maybe I forgot to submit after previewing... Check back in a few minutes.--GrantB 20:45, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
I have been creating new episode articles Dbz77 07:33, January 19, 2011 (UTC)dbz77

New Articles[]

Is anyone planning to write new articles for the new month? Dbz77 20:29, February 1, 2011 (UTC)dbz77

I just added First Day on a New World (vehicle ep 2). I'll put up Building a New World soon (ep 3). They've been ready for a while (sitting in a text file on my computer); I've just been lazy about uploading them. --GrantB 20:50, February 9, 2011 (UTC)
I have added Enter Merla: Queen of Darkness, To Soothe the Savage Robeast, Lotor - My Hero?, The Alliance Strikes Back!, and Breakin' up is Hard to Doom Dbz77 19:48, March 12, 2011 (UTC)dbz77
You rock, dbz. I wish I had more time for this right now. Maybe in another week or two. --GrantB 23:46, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
I had focused on the lion series episodes which advanced the series plot. Dbz77 01:07, March 13, 2011 (UTC)dbz77

Front page reorg time?[]

Now that Voltron Force is going strong, and we know how WEP is allotting their attention for the next year or two, I think a front-page reorg might be in order. The current front page was good enough when I first hacked it together, but I think we can do better.

  • First off, I think some space on the front page should be devoted to our fledgling wiki community. For instance, point to some guidelines and important community pages, show some news, some TODO items if someone is looking for something to do... you know, stuff that other wikis do.
  • Second, the Voltron content should be reorg'd toward a franchise-oriented approach. Basically, we group content into three families:
    1. Voltron Force
    2. Voltron: DotU (aka the old show)
    3. Japanese stuff (Golion/Dairug/Albegas).
    4. (If the Voltron live-action movie ever happens, likely it would be a fourth franchise group. Probably we'll keep something like current box on the front page so people can find movie news if it breaks.)

To elaborate on the second point, I would rearrange the "Comics" content. Each franchise should have a comics sub-link: Voltron Force would have a link to Force comics and DotU would link to DotU comics. The "Merchandise" box would be reworked similarly. (This is kinda reflective of how I'm going to steer our wiki content organization, but one thing at a time.)

I'll probably start working on a new page (using a sandbox page) to better show what I'm talking about. I basically just wanted to get this braindump out here to see if anyone had any opinions or ideas or anything to add. (Also note my somewhat related post over at Voltron wiki talk:Community Portal) --GrantB 23:17, July 14, 2011 (UTC)

DotU looks stupid. Suggestions[]

Instead of renaming characters from Voltron: Defender of the Universe with (DotU) in their name, perhaps just leave that out entirely. Those from the newer version have (Voltron Force) in their name, so you can't mix the two up. Also, the banner up top that says what series they are from, should list the series, not just the abbreviation for it. Example: [2]. Everyone state your opinions please. Dream Focus 11:50, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

I asked for input more than a month ago (see previous topic and [[3]]), and no one replied, except for MonkeyMan5 on my talk page. The plain-old name is being used redirected to disambiguation pages, e.g. Keith or Allura, which I think is more appropriate. Now that Voltron Force is going strong, DotU is starting to get used more and more on the forums to differentiate the old and the new. --GrantB 16:53, August 19, 2011 (UTC)
You are right. I just checked the most visited pages. http://voltron.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Mostvisitedpages Voltron Force has more hits than any of the character pages from any series. I think having (Defender of the universe) instead of (DotU) looks better though. Dream Focus 00:38, August 20, 2011 (UTC)
I mostly intend for DotU to be used on page names only (because the full phrase is just too damn long). In actual page content, the full phrase should be used. The change you made on Allura (DotU) is appropriate and I should have done that in the first place. I will get around to fixing it on those other pages with similar headings. --GrantB 17:03, August 20, 2011 (UTC)

New changes[]

The Voltron on TV section needs a proper image next to each of the shows, something that shows Voltron and the pilots, not just a title screen. The video section should show videos from all the different series. Anyone feel like working on that, go for it. Any comments, suggestions, whatever, don't hesitate to post here. Dream Focus 21:00, February 16, 2016 (UTC)

January 27th Season 2 of Legendary Defenders[]

Since the release of Season 2 is within two months of arriving, I think that everyone should be ready to add pages, edit already existing ones and comb the episodes for more information. If you're willing to do so, please leave me a message on my talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AvatarAero (talkcontribs)

People do that anyway whenever a new episode comes out. And always remember to sign your name when you post on a talk page, something you just forgot. Also when you edit an article, you can click to preview it before publishing the change, this keeping you from having to edit it several times in a row to change minor things. Dream Focus 12:48, December 1, 2016 (UTC)

Allura Should Be On The Front Page[]

Now that Allura is a paladin, she should be on the front page with the rest of the paladins.Bob4584584545 (talk) 09:27, November 14, 2017 (UTC)
